Commercial fridge and freezer fault diagnosis
A cabinet that is running but not holding its required temperature needs a diagnosis of the actual fault. LCDA attends selected commercial fridges and freezers, including display cabinets and other self-contained units. Let us know the cabinet type before booking so we can confirm that it is within our service.
Problems to describe when you call
- Fridge not cooling or reaching its set temperature
- Freezer not freezing as expected
- Temperature rising or fluctuating
- Excess frost or ice on the cabinet
- Unusual fan or compressor noises
- Display, controller or warning-code problems
Information that helps the engineer
Please provide the make and model, whether the unit is a fridge or freezer, the current and set temperatures if shown, how long the fault has been present and any error code. Tell us whether the appliance has stopped completely or is still running. If you have more than one affected cabinet, identify each unit separately when booking.
What happens at the visit?
The engineer assesses the reported symptoms and the appliance itself before explaining the findings. Depending on the unit and fault, checks may involve the controls, fans, door closure, defrost components or refrigeration system. A symptom alone does not establish which part is faulty. Where a repair can be completed on the visit, it may be carried out then; if parts or further work are needed, those are discussed first.
For a business with temperature-sensitive stock, follow your own stock-handling procedures while the appliance is faulty. Do not rely on a repair booking as confirmation that the unit is maintaining a safe temperature.
